04 exhaust system
I have a 04 f250 5.4 extended cab short bed. It has had the y pipe altered and a gibson cat back put on it.There is a ticking echo when at idle almost sounds like a engine knok. Had it looked at and was told it is because of the exhaust mods. I want to put a OEM stainless system back on it.Any place cheaper then the dealer or anyone have one that was taken off thers and want to sell? Thanks

It's a common problem for the factory exhaust studs to rot and then the manifold tweaks out. ford has "stainless studs" for an upgrade but go ARP in either steel or stainless which are a thousand times better than Ford's. Have your manifold machined at a shop or get new ones or a set of headers. I installed Gibson stainless headers and new studs at around 30k on my 04 just because I didn't want any headaches later on, so far 137k living in the salt belt with no issues

Possibly a leak at the manifold/y-pipe flange? Had this happen before on a car and Ford van I was doing work on, took me a while to figure it out but I eventually got it
