Just purchased 4 days ago and transmission is dead

I just purchased a 2002 F150 Supercrew 4x4 4 days ago and have driven it less than 200 miles. I started it up and put in reverse and nothing. I checked the parking brake and it was off. I then revved the engine a bit and it lurched backward squealing the tires. I put it in drive and it stalled. I started it again and started moving forward and it made a grinding noise. The check engine light came on and the overdrive light is now flashing.

If the dealer won't help me, what could this be? It drove fine before this and showed no signs of trouble. I really can't afford a new transmission on top of just purchasing this truck.

How is the trans fluid? Low? Red? Brown? Black?

Overfull surprises me. The symptoms point to low trans fluid. Did you check the level warmed up with the engine idling in park?

It was still warm from driving 30 minutes earlier. I checked with the engine off.

I already took it back to them. Just getting ideas if they won't help.

How many miles on truck? Hopefully you won't have to pay for fix.

Did you buy it from a new car dealer, a used car lot or a private party? If you bought it from a dealer did they give you any kind of a warranty? Can you still drive it?

Then you're overfilled, right on, or underfilled. it's one of those, but with the engine off it's impossible to tell which one.

It's at the dealer right now. They are a big name Subaru dealer. If they don't help me I will start a more thorough diagnostic and let you guys know.

They had to know it had problems. Check the fluid when its running. Tranny probably has major issues.

Well, no help from them. Code scan shows P0751. I still have to research trouble shooting and repair options. How difficult is the shift solenoid to replace?

It's not very difficult.
