I'm trying to replace my front bumper, as it has a couple of rust holes in it. Where are the bolts to remove it, and what do I need to do to keep my airbag functioning after I replace it?
I think there are a couple brackets that hold it to the frame. A couple nuts and bolts each. As far as the air bags I'm not sure. I think they are an inertia switch sort of thing. Looked in my books but don't have an answer for that one. Good luck.
Look behind the bumper and you'll see 4 nuts that hold it on.
Airbag sensors (the Primary Crash Sensors) are bolted to the radiator core support, so you won't be working with them, and just in case you wondering why they're the primary sensors, the Airbag Safing Sensor is the secondary one. Located inside the cab.
With a factory bumper the only place to install tow hooks is directly to the frame. You'll probably have to notch the lower edge of the bumper for them.
I like to use factory Ford tow hooks since they are closed loops instead of an actual hook.
