Sprayon Bedliner?

I was thinking about putting on a sprayon bedliner on my truck, I was planning to do it myself so I have a few questions.

1. What would be the best brand/type to use.
2. How would be the best way to make a smooth line on the. I have a friend who did this and he used a type of tape specifically designed to be used on car paint and guess what….it removed the paint….not all of it mind you but in thousands of little dots along the edge.

So basically I would like all of your opinions on what/where&how.

Signed,
The Don

Sprayon Bedliner?

I have no experience with a self applied liner, but I have had a Line-X liner for 6 years & it still looks & works incredibly good.

There is actually a blue Scotch 3M safe release painters masking tape at hardware stores. I myself have never had a problem with reg masking tape but this stuff is just a little less sticky and shouldn't pull the paint off. Mabey your buddies painted surface wasn"t properly preped before it was painted. I used The brand Hippo-liner and it has turned out well. I have pics of it sprayed inside the cab of my truck and plan to spray my bed when it is ready. You just have to get a hold of the right kind of spray gun.

How think was your Hippo-liner? I saw a buddy's truck after he had a shop do one of those Rhino-liners and it must have been at least 1/8 of an inch thick. Does the Hippo-liner go on that thick? It does add a good bit more weight but I guess if we are running FE motors it doesn't mater much ;-)

It is about 1/16 to an 1/8 bepending on how thick i got it but you could spray it as thick as you wanted within means, thats the good thing about doing things yourself. If your doing alot i guess it whould be weight but its only gonna weigh as much as a can of the liner does to begin with, Most people have more weight in grease and oil caked under their trucks than the liner will weigh.LOL

RhinoLiners are great- skip the mess and hassle, have them spray it all in- hell, get a warranty to boot!
