I finally started rewiring my truck. I am using a kit from American Autowire that I got from Mid Fifty. First thing I had to do was paint the firewall. I only had the body shop paint it in primer. Luckily they gave me what paint they had left. I don't think it turned out too bad.
I have temp installed the dome light, and verified that it works using a battery pack. I also have run the wires for the lights and eng thru the firewall.
Next will be starting on everything under the dash.
There will be alot of unused wiring in the current configuration. But if I ever decide to upgrade the wiring will be there.
It looks like you are off to a great start. I am currently working in the same job. I chose to use the factory firewall pass-thru as well. I will be watching your thread I am curious to see the turn signal wiring. Do you have any photos of the fuse block install?
I too will be watching with interest. My EZ wiring kit should arrive Monday and the 12 volt conversion should be here next Wednesday. I order the 12 circuit system as I know I will not be installing air or anything more than maybe a radio and electric wipers.
Even the kits with the unterminated (no terminals) ends isnt too bad (for any vehicle) because you can route the wiring any way that you please. The best part is being able to lay the harness out and figure out what goes where. Once you are done, install some loom or wire braid. Tape or heat shrink the ends to give a nice clean look.
I used EZ wiring and the tech help on the phone was the greatest.
Have enclosed picts of the fuse box mounting, I ran the rear wiring through the firewall and then back through the frame as I didn't like running wires under the carpet and then having to poke a hole out the back of the cab.
I started with split wiring harness but switched to self-sealing "Silicone" electrical tape from Delcity.net. After 24 hrs. it sets up solid. It works great, seals from water and takes lots of heat plus the results is smaller than using the split stuff. Regular electrical tape just will not take the heat in Texas. I had to remove some tape to add additional wires in some runs but that was no problems to slit with a blade and it peels of easily and then re-tape.

One on the right is the silicone tape and the left are the split harnesses which I later replaced with Silicone tape.

Reason: corrections
did you mount your fuse flock on the firewall under the hood? That is where I am thinking of putting mine. I also see you are using male/female conectors. What would they be for? Trouble shooting isolation?
