Between the motor governor and the transmission shift points you should be clear to floor it and not think twice. I usually pull big hills around 3000 and down shift at 2000 but I have a manual.

This.
As long as your governor is stock, and you can hold your EGT's, you can hold the pedal to the floor for basically as long as you want. I wouldn't recommend it, its just beating on it, but you can.
I have a 92 f250 7.3l e40d nonturbo. What is a safe high rpm to run at on these engines ? like obviously not in the red at 4000 for a long time
I just wanna know what I can push the motor to when im pulling up a hill and not grenade the engine
these are medium duty truck engines placed into pickup trucks.you can hold them against the governor for as long as you can keep them cool enough.
when i was n/a and loaded i just held her to the floor and let 'er roar.
don't be afraid of it.these are tough truck engines designed for use in medium duty trucks with extremely low gearing.let her scream.
This Engine is built to be run hard in a industrial medium duty chassis like school bus and dump trucks... mine was 8 grams out of balance both in the piston weight and the Rod weight... Now they are quite heavy so 8 grams is acceptable for production.. I balanced mine to 1/2 gram after removing 100 grams from each rod and it now runs very smooth and will run up to the governor around 3900 (indicated on my tachometer) easy and I would not be afraid to hold it there in my MH application. Some people drive there IDI's like they have a Cummins and never turn them up past 2000... And then they say their Truck is gutless!... Cruise when you want to save fuel... Rev the Engine when you need power... Max torque stock is 2400 to 2600 RPM. Max HP at 3200 to 3600... the best thing you can do is give it unrestricted air and exhaust systems and drive it.
ran mine today nearly on the governor at WOT or near WOT for over 2 hours. 4.10s at 80 mph on a road trip. 210* temp, 1000-1200 egt. it did fine, never skipped a beat. however, I am getting an intercooler to drop EGT. mine is turbo, boost between 12-15psi under load. i am playing with fire on that but it does peak boost at high RPM so less shock loading of the bottom end. so far it has been flawless and i love the sound of 15psi at 3300 rpm echoing off the vehicle beside me, it just sounds mad
that must of used up some fuel.some of them roads out west just beg for 90-100 mph though don't they? 3.55's probably would hurt ya any either.
I would love 3.55s for sure but i was pulling a trailer and just could keep speed on the hills. unloaded it would be awesome though. I did use quite a bit, on the way to my destination got around 11 mpg. on the way back it dropped to 9 but both ways we were cruising. my truck will only run right at 90 on the governor, flat ground.
