Towed this home on Saturday with my 2V Expy

2000 Mustang GT Steeda #0048. $17k worth of options installed from Steeda plus $24k MSRP on a Premium that year = $41k car in the year 2000 . I paid $5500 for it with a blown motor lol. The car itself is a 9.5/10. Only issue is peeling paint on the roof where the exterior panels rub/vibrate against it. I've had this problem on other Mustangs I've owned, I am going to make it look new for $100 worth of stuff from Paintscratch.com like I did on my old Cobra. Paint on the rest of the car might as well be new, not even a chip in the hood. No rust anywhere, has the Novi 2000 option and the car only has 34k original miles on it. I have an $8k budget for it back up and running including the cost of the car and I am going to make that work. Doing all the labor myself.

Already have a line on a 38k replacement motor out of a Crown Vic for $500, bought an intercooler kit for it, new high flow catted X to make it NJ legal, and going to get a new clutch/flywheel for it too even though the current setup in it feels ok. Some other stuff too...

Car should have no problem pushing the maximum stock safe boost/power with a good tune. Shooting for 425 to the wheels and an 11 second run to get me booted from the track for no cage lol.

Now... as far as the Expy goes... she did ok. Got it from a very VERY hilly neighborhood in northwestern NJ on a U Haul car transport (not a dolly) so figure 4,500lbs or so towing. This truck does have the tow package which helped I'm sure. Going up some of the hills in his neighborhood was a 10mph affair they were so steep but it made it. OD off all the way turning 2200 RPM on the highway at 60mph.

I love this truck and will not let it go to the wayside even with my new toy. Consistently does everything I ask it to do and it is a godsend in the winters around here with the ATS tires. 120k+ miles on it now, always has fresh fluids and did a big tune up on it about 8k miles ago. Everything it it still works and being an EB it still has some features you have to pay extra for even today. I'm shooting for well into the 200k mark on it and its nice to know if I decide to track this Mustang and buy my own trailer the Expy should have no issues pulling it.

SWEET Mustang, from a fellow 'stanger. I Plan on using my 98 Expy to tow my 2003 Mach 1 to a few shows as it only has 9600 miles on it. I just need to find the right trailer and a safe place to stow it as my HOA is a real PITA about anything parked for more than a couple of days. Mark

Went and found a new motor for it this week. 5 years newer and almost the exact same mileage.

Dirty but it'll clean up. Paid $575 delivered and its the same block/rotating assy/heads and 5 years newer out of an 05 Grand Marquis.

Also a bigass intercooler

Also new clutch, new flywheel, new catted X pipe, getting new poly mounts, got a wideband and found out the car has tuned length shorties but they are flaking so going to send those out to get blasted/coated.

I just got my knee scoped so hopefully going to get cleared to start moving heavy stuff soon. Want to get the motor pulled and put on another stand next to the new one and swap all the Mustang parts over to the stripped down PI out of the Marquis and then drop it all back in.

Will be cleaning the everliving heck out of the replacement motor in the meantime...

Nice find on the stang. Think about getting aftermarket K member and long tubes while you're that far into it?

The only aftermarket K I would run is the Max Motorsports setup and that is another $1700 I don't have in the budget right now. Longtubes not required at all with the blower would see literally no benefit until I do a built motor and then its $1500 for a set of Kooks or ARH longtubes and midpipe which I also don't have right now lol.

Its got tuned length BBK shorties on it right now. Only $120 to get them blasted/acid bath/re-coated and they'll be more than enough up to 600hp although stock Ford internals are about done at 425.
