My truck has dealer A/C and I realized that sitting still my A/C works better than when driving because the blend door for Off/Floor/Defroster does not shut air flow off and even in the off position when driving down the road warm air is being forced into the cab.
So my question is what is the part number for the gasket for this door? I am currently looking for it in my parts and illustration guide but all I see is just the gasket for the plenum to firewall gasket.
I don't think there is a part number for that. It appears to me that the whole duct was bought as one piece, so there weren't individual parts and part numbers.
Also, my bet is that it isn't the "gasket", or just the gasket, but that the hinge has broken. That's the case on Rusty, and the door wasn't closing completely - or opening completely. I pulled the part below that duct, which gave me access to the blend door, and was able to confirm that it is a broken hinge.
Edit: I just realized you said "dealer air". But I was thinking "factory air". So, my comments may be totally wrong as I've not had my hands on a dealer-air system and don't know how they are put together. Sorry.
Thats ok, that a fair assessment. In my case the heat and defrosted works fine when sliding the lever. I did reach under the dash today while driving and i didnt feel any air coming through in the off position. Maybe it is a door not closing all the way as when it was doing it the air came out the heat ducts under the dash and heat is in the middle between off and defroster. Maybe i need to check the cable co adjustment maybe it is out of adjustment but i dont have to force anything to get heat or defroster unlike on my mercury where the temp blend door doesn't move to full heat without some help pulling on the door lever while sliding the h vac slider.
