I run a 351W with an AOD trans in my 1981 F100. The trans came in the truck new
with a 302. I built a 351W when I got the truck and used the original AOD with it.
It has been over 25 years ago, but I think I used a C4 flexplate with the 28oz imbalance with the original torque converter that came with the AOD.
It has run fine over all this time. The most critical issue you probably will have
is properly hooking up the TV cable to operate the AOD.
If you don't get the TV hook up correct, you will burn up the AOD in short order.
Yeah, it sounds like my best bet would be to pull an AOD from an F-150/F-250 that has it, along with the cables and carb, just take everything so there shouldn't be any issue at all with hooking up the TV
Ok guys new to forum, read through this forum but can't make out what I need I have an 1984 f150 that had a 302 and an AOD, and I swapped in a 351w. The 351w is out of a 95 f150, but not sure about flywheel. I put a fly wheel for an 85 LTD, and trans seems ok, but have starter noise, like there is a meshing problem, any help would be great.
