70 Shorty

I have a 1970 F100 4x4, I am wanting to put a fuel injected 5.0 in it. My question is can you get 302 stands for the bumpside 4x4's? I'm not afraid to fab some up but it sure would be faster to bolt some in. Or if someone has pictures of some they made it might be of help. I can't find anything on Google searches or from any of the big name swap companies. It seems like this should be a pretty common thing. Thanks in advance guys

Thanks for the link, they have a lot of nice stuff. They don't have the 4x4 302 mounts either only in 4x2

Ah.. Hmm. Thought they had it.

I'm not inclined to recommend a 302 in a heavy 4x4 anyway. I'd recommend a torquey 300 with goodies like headers, a 4V intake, and 4V carb.

I do agree with your opinion on the 302. It is not going to be a work horse, just a sweet commuter. I got a 302 and auto/tcase from a 95 f150 complete, I'm swapping it all over down to the wire harness. It will probably be a 16 yr old kids first ride a fuel injected 302 with auto and air fits that bill perfect imo. I have had many of these trucks with all engine configurations and my favorite is the 300. It currently has a 428 as it was my old truck and the boy don't get it for his and others safety. The hope is to locate a I6 at some point because it will be a easy switch later when the funds permit, I have $200 total in the 302 set up.

No such thing ever existed from FoMoCo.
There aren't any stands (aka perches/towers), because there's no engine cross member to bolt them to. 4WD engine supports bolt to the inner frame rails.

But, Ford did not offer the 302 with 4WD in pickups until 1980, and then in F150/250's only. 1976 was the last year that Ford offered the F100 with 4WD

All 1969/79 F100's, 1975/79 F150's with 302's were only available as 2WD

btw: FTE member garbz2 (Dave) also lives in Glendale, is well versed on these trucks, so you might contact him for assistance. He posts in this and the 1961/66 forums.

Thanks for the info, I will try to contact him. There are a few members on here from Arizona I wouldn't mind getting together with and meeting. I love these forums. I was just hoping for the easy way out, (just buying a set) I'm not above the plasma cutter and the welder.

Ya might make up a few extra sets. Sell them on Evilbay and/or our own marketplace. 302/351 in a 4X4.

Use 77-79 4wd 351M/400 stands. As the 2wd perches are the same for 302 and 351M/400 trucks, then vice versa for 4wd.

1969/79 F100 302 - 1975/79 F150 302 use the same engine supports as 1977/79 F100/350 351M/400 2WD

But since Ford didn't offer the 302 with 4WD until 1980, will the 351M/400 4WD engine supports work with a 302?

I think I might be able to get my hands on a set cheap. If he still has them I will find out and post the results.
