I'm missing a plastic clip that holds the rod to my carb linkage can anyone tell me where to find one? the truck is a 84 f150 302 with cruise this pice is literally all thats keeping me from driving it after it had sat 12 years and i got it so i really need it if anyone can help please do!
Some of those clips can be found on the rack in the parts stores. They used to have "Help!" on the packages, but they are distributed by Dorman. They have assortments of clips and other things. You usually have to buy a whole package of stuff to get the one part you need, but it works out usually.
The one that directly links the AOD TV rod to the carb linkage at the carb I've never found in the Help/Dorman package. Some of the shift bushings are but not the TV rod bushing.
Ford upgraded the plastic one with a brass one - F3SZ-7H303-B - I think is the brass number. From what I read, it's the same part for either TV rod or cable setup.
would it be possible to put a rubber grommet on the rod and put it on the stud and put a cotter pin trough it to hold it together? I've looked at the brass one and it won't work for what i have
I put a rebuilt carburetor on my 84 302/AOD about a year and a half ago. I broke that plastic clip removing it. This is how I fixed it. I used a small flat washer and a small hairpin style clip to hold it in place.
It's been working fine since.
