Hey guys. So the other day i was under my truck and noticed electrical plugs behind the front splash gaurds. Anyone know what these might be for? I have a 00 F250 superduty XL model with the 5.4. Thanks!
My truck has those and I don't know what they are for. I was thinking maybe they were for lighted running boards but I'm following this thread with you because I'd like to know also.
The ABS wires for the front wheels are part of the 12A581 harness (the engine compartment harness). Ford decided to use the same harness for non-front-ABS trucks as they do for ABS trucks (which is weird, because they sure use different harnesses for everything else). On non-front-ABS trucks, rather than have them dangle in the engine compartment where they can get snagged (or confused with something else), they just tucked them behind the liner and hooked them to the liner. The reason they aren't capped, is because they are dead on the other end at the plug. With the sheer number of trucks out there without front ABS, it would have cost Ford a ton of money to cap dead plugs (a savings they likely negated by wasting wire anyway).
