Mysterious electrical Plugs

Going thru my 1987 Ranger I am finding various unplugged electrical plugs throughout the engine compartment.

Any help is appreciated...

First pic is a self test connector. The others could be for assembly-line testing or for options you don't have. Unused connectors are very common on vehicles.

Aside from the OBD1 connector, the other 2 singles are always left hanging in my experience, the black plug is not hooked up on my 87 B2 either.

I should have taken a pic of the rat's nest of wiring behind the dash before I got most of it ripped out.

Removed this goofy cruise control unit... I'm guessing JC Whitney circa late 80s
