5 CEL in 5 months

As title says, 5 cel

Latest one has occurred last night, at least did not get message to pull over safely. This is starting to get old. Same four codes the first four times, sensor reading hot. I thought recall was supposed to cure this issue. It is sad to say but I fell better driveing the 2004 6.0 excursion with 200,000 then the new 2013 6.7 with 40,000. Traded a 2004 6.0 that did not see shop as much as the 6.7 has. All problems started at about 35000 miles and now with just over 40,000 miles. Last 5000 miles averaging 1000 miles per shop visit. Very frustrating.

Calling dealer tomorrow so they can come pick up truck to again fix. Dealer has been very responsive to problem, however as each occurrence reoccurs, I get more frustrated with issue. Hopefully gets resolved fast or new truck may be in the plans, and I hate to say/think this way, but I may look at something other then ford.

Don't post much but read everyday. Thanks for letting rant.

Scott

don't recognize the 06ea but the other is a sensor.

Seems to me that there maybe more than just a sensor and they are not looking elsewhere.

If I were you I would ask around to find a more experienced diesel tech. Sure seems like there is a deeper error somewhere that needs attention.

I won't criticize a tech easily, these trucks are ridiculously complex and the computer networking/data systems are no joke. Just feels like another set of eyes would be helpful.

I had a P200E intermittently a while back. When I took my truck in for the recall, they also replaced the #1 exhaust sensor and that took care of it.

I'm glad you've brought this to the attention of your dealership, kubatob7500. I'd like to get your regional customer service manager involved as well so they can help. To make that happen, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll push this up the chain and monitor things as they progress.

As I understood it from my local dealer SA, the recall was to address the "range" the sensors read and throw a code, I know mileage on vehicles having these recurring issues are all over the place. Does anyone think it could have anything to do with the DPF being partially clogged causing more heat, etc...? Just asking, I may be way off base here...

It is my understanding that those DTC are affected by multiple sensor self checks.

Most of the exhaust sensors are compared to each other to test if they are working right. The tech should be able to monitor the individual sensor to verify they are working if it isn't intermittent.

P200E – Catalyst System Over Temperature (Bank 1)

P06EA NOx Sensor Processor Performance (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P06EA RAM failure

ROM CRC check error

EEPROM CRC check error

Ip1 out of range – Ip1(VIP2.1) < 1.8V, Ip1(VIP2.1) > 2.2V, Ip1(VIP2.2) < 0.2V, or Ip1(VIP2.2) > 0.6V

Ip2-W out of range – Vs+

5.35V and Ip2-W > 4.8V

Ip2-N out of range – Vs+

5.35V and Ip2-N < 0.2V

Ip2-N and Ip2-W range rationality – Integral value of differential between Ip2-N & Ip2-W

250ppm

Vp2 circuit failure – Vp2 < 250mV or Vp2 > 650mV

Rpvs short to ground – Rpvs < 0.2V

Temperature sensor short to battery – Temp > 4.5V

Temperature sensor short to ground – Temp < 0.45V

Temperature sensor open – 0.45V

Temp < 0.48V

NOx Module temperature within 40 deg. C of Exhaust Temperature Sensor on Cold Start.

Since this has happen before, I would send Crystal a PM. She is always helpful and it wouldn't hurt to have it on record.

First I would like to thank Crystal openly on the fourm, thank you.

I wanted to give dealer chance to fix the problem.

Dealer had truck today and spoke with support, same codes as before. Actullay from what I understand the code was in system a few times but no cel was triggered. Dealership taking truck for next two days on ford advice, working on computer boards that control the sensors. Per dealer from ford this is not a common probelm, something new also to them.

Again I want to thank fte group for the support and also to crystal for offer her supporth. I did not connect crystal with info and wanted to give dealership the chance to resolve this ongoing issue. At this time I feel that is being done, and I'm willing to at this point let them try to resolve issue.

I will keep fte posted on results and when and if I do not get satisfactory outcome, then I will contact crystal for further assistance on this.

Again side note, 2004 6.0 excursion 200,000 miles and still going strong. Excursion is wife's daily drive and she is in no hurry to get rid of it, either

You're quite welcome, kubatob7500! You're in great hands at your dealership; it seems like they've been working hard on this for you. I'm always just a PM away if you need me to step in and help.
