Zf5 2wd question

On the 2wd zf that I have the out out is fixed and doesn't slide did they make any that didn't need a carrier bearing or will I have to add that to the fabrication list or the 1969?

AFAIK all the 2wd ZF5's had the fixed output yoke.
I'm not sure that means you need a carrier bearing, just that you need a driveshaft with an adjustable length. I would assume you could use a 2 piece driveshaft where the slip-joint is built into one end of the driveshaft. Basically like what is used for the front driveshaft in 4x4's.

There's a good chance you'll have to use a custom length driveshaft anyways, so you might want to just find a good driveshaft shop and ask them what they recommend.

pretty much depends on the length of the driveshaft.

my 71 is a SC LB and uses a carrier bearing.

you can use a slip driveshaft or a 2 piece with carrier bearing.

basically it depends on the size of the u-joint for the ZF, and pinion yoke.
also the length of the driveshaft.

like tecgod said, consult with your driveline guy, he will provide you with the best option according to the size of the tube and u joint.
