Is that the switching valve to switch from tank to tank?
Nope, truck has a single tank. This is a single (filtered) reservoir.
It is a feed and return reservoir. I saw where someone had bought two 8" or 12" pieces of steel fuel line, and omitted this reservoir. But...I was just wondering if this was a common modification, or not...and if it all worked properly.
I wouldn't recommend it. It does more than just hold a filter. It serves as a reserve of fuel for the high pressure pump. Do a search of the term 'swirl-pot'.
