I have a 1987 Ford F150 with dual tanks and a 351 5.8L Engine in it. I have been running off the back (reserve) tank ever since I got the truck because the front tank is not hooked up. It wasn't too big of a deal to me since I drive 5 miles to work and back with the truck and that's all. Anyways, a week or so back the truck started to starve for gas. I dropped the back tank, cleaned it out, replaced the screen and put in two in line fuel filters and some fuel line. After doing all this the in line fuel filters don't seem to be getting gas and the truck dies as a result. A number of questions run my head...
Fuel Pump coincidently went out???
New in tank screen too thick for gas to go through???
Double in-line fuel filter a mistake???
Your original issue (starving for fuel)may have been a result of a weak in tank fuel pump which is a low pressure pump to begin with, adding a second fuel filter will cause more resistance in flow adding to the problem I would remove one of the filters.you also have a second fuel pump on the fram that should be checked,if either pump is faulty it will cause fuel delivery problems.
