I have to sniff test it when I register it, (20 years and older are exempt) so next year it doesnt matter. I hope that there was no cat originally, and that she will pass!
ok what motor u got in there a 300 6 up to 86 dont have a converter on there if u got a v 8 u going to need 1 for sure if u not sure look on the rad support for what is required for emmissions it will say if a conveter is going to be required an all the related componteds.
I have a 351W, the rad sticker doesnt tell me a whole lot, I dont see much of anything for cats. I was hoping that someone could point me to a source on here or tell me what is needed. BTW, I am in canada
ok you going to have to have cats on there to pass for sure if u cant read the tag go to the scrap yards an get the info from it . after market cats installed are around $100
My 1980 F250 w/ 351w was catalyzed. The trigger is GVW. <8000lbs was catalyzed, >8000 was not catalyzed. If you have any doubts, just call your DEQ, and they can tell you.

The Sticker would say non catalyst equiped, my truck is also an 84 with a 302 and I have this sticker, but bear in mind that the sticker could have fallen off over the years, get the dealer to run your vin, or if they can't, I know that the MTO(ontario) can tell you.
I think it should pass if it runs good, but, I think it should be exempt due to the non-catalyst emissions system.
Just curious, but, does your instrument cluster say "unleaded fuel only" below the tach/filler panel where it would be, or on a sticker on the gas tank door or hinge?
I can't remember if my 84 had it on the cluster or not(it was a catalyst truck,) but, all of the earlier LD non catalyst trucks I have seen were equipped to run on leaded gas(I belive this was a Canadian market only option in the 80's), and the do no have the "unleaded fuel only" markings.
