Suspension upgrades

Hello

My Excursion has 270k miles and only thing changed were the shocks and hubs. I'm looking to redo my suspension. I am looking at the F250 leaf springs for towing but everywhere I read it lifts the truck 2". Being a 4x4 its already higher than usual, my sister had an 02' 4x4 but mine is higher. I don't want it to lift up. Are there springs that hold the weight of the F250 springs but don't lift the truck or is there something I can install so the truck won't raise. Any suggestions on steering and thing for the front end?

Welcome to the forum and the EX family.
You need to read more!
You have most likely seen info on modded B or c code rear spring swaps (along with front V or X codes) and those do raise the ride height up by about 2" due to the "mod" part.
Most folks (or at least many folks...) are not too thrilled with the front springs and suffer from some extent of bottoming out in the front. This leads them to swap in SuperDuty springs (V or X codes) that firm up and raise the front by 1.5" (V's on a PSD) to 2.9" (X's on a V-10). To get better performing rear spring to match they usually go with either the SD B or C codes. These springs if left un-modded will have a nearly even ride height as the stock EX rear springs. The mod is done to raise the rears up to match the new increased ride height of the new fronts springs. If you are perfectly happy with your fronts currently then a swap to un-modded rear SD B or C codes should increase the rear load handling abilities and leave your ride height nearly unchanged.
Much info on these spring swaps can be found at the top of this forum in the Tech Folders.

I saw what you were saying. After looking at some threads I decided to take a look at my front springs. The bump stops are completely gone looks like I bottomed out and ripped them off. I've been hearing clunks every time I hit a bump too so this would be a good time to replace everything suspension and steering. I measured my truck and the front is over an inch and a half lower than the rear. If I swap in the V springs I should be ok or it will raise 1.5 inch from stock. If that's the case have you heard of a shackle or something to keep it the same height. I have trouble as it is going into parking garages.

That's a very subjective conclusion.

When you say higher than usual, what are you thinking is "usual?" To what are you comparing it to?

my sister had an 02' 4x4 but mine is higher.
2002 4x4 what? Excursion?

If you're comparing your '00 4x4 to her '02 4x4 and both rigs are Excursions, you should be almost exactly the same height. If both rigs are indeed Excursions, how much higher does your sit, exactly? Is her suspension stock? Is it in need of repair?

Please remember, when a person swaps in V codes, B codes, and the F250 tapered block (or modded B's if no block is swapped) all a person is doing is bringing the height of a 4x4 Excursion up to the same stock height of a 4x4 F250/350, nothing else. If Ford hadn't screwed the pooch and put different springs on the Ex, an OEM 4x4 Ex wouldn't sit lower than an OEM 4x4 F250/350, it would sit at the exact same height.

I understand it better now. I was worried about it looking funny with the stock tire size. Either way my springs are shot and need to be replaced.

IMHO, X Codes and Modded C Codes look just fine with 285-75-16, just a slight bump up from the stock size that most owners seem to do anyway.
