I drove over to Carolina Classics yesterday and purchased a new float for my gas tank. I got it installed and turned the ign switch and it barely moved. I grounded the lead wire and it pushed the needle to full. I looked at the ground connection and thought humm.
I tighten the screw a bit but it wasn't tightening, so I removed it. I got one of my brass toothbrushes and went to work cleaning the contact points, and put in a new screw. The gauge moved slightly higher. I drove to the nearest gas station and pumped in 10 gallons. The needle moved just above 3/4.
Too early to tell but I think I might have my poor needle reading resolved.
Depends on if you believe in Electron flow one way like some of us or in "Hole" flow or the absence of electrons (flow opposite of electrons) like electrical engineers. Personally I think the electrons are confused by our theories and just jump on the ground to escape the mess
they might be teaching it differently than they taught me in "beep" school in the navy. i was told electrons flow from negative to positive, but maybe that's just all i needed to know to fix my gear on my ship.
