302/351w question

Ive always been told that the 302 and the 351w were practically the same motor. I know that there is alot of interchangeable parts. Also, I know that the block is different, and the stroke on the 351 is longer, and the crank is different, and the intake. But the bore is the same and the cam and pistons, and I believe the heads too? Im fairly new to the engine world, so for discussions sake, is that true about the 302 and 351 being practically the same?

No it's not true at least not in the same way that a 305/350 are the same, the 302 and 351 share very few parts besides cylinder heads, they can also use the same cams, timing covers and water pumps but that is about it, everything else is different.

Ditto, heads and the entire valvetrain are the same, everything else is different. Pistons are the same bore size, but the pin height is different as is the piston top. Throttle body is the same, distributor cap and rotor the same, distributor itself is different.
