Brand new here. Does anyone know how to replace the throttle position sensor on a1994 e150 5.8l van? Already have the breathet assembly off. Sensor is underneath the throttle body. Can't tell if it had bolts, scews or rivets. Very tight area. Appreciate any info. Thanks
You need to remove the Throttle Body (TB) to get to the TPS.
You'll need to drain some coolant out of the radiator, as there are 2 coolant line connected to the TB. Plus the heater line runs tight to the TB, and you might want to remove that to get room to get the TB out.
Remove coolant lines, and Throttle linkage on the top (pry up) and 3 vacuum lines from the TB.
There are 4 bolts, one in each corner of the TB, remove with 3/8" socket, extensions, and a U-joint work great for the lower bolts. leave the IAC on the TB, just unplug the harness as you get it out.
Flipping the TB over, and you'll see the 2 screws that hold the TPS on the bottom of the TB. Make sure you have the throttle plate stem installed correctly in the new TPS.
You'll need to replace the TB gasket to the plenum, and not a bad idea to check and clean the IAC when you have it out. Revere to install.
Thanks guy. Your a big help. Thought the throttle body would have to come off to get to it but wasn't sure. I do appreciate how you went into detail. Now the hard work begins! Thank you so much.
