I noticed these spots while cleaning the door jams this spring, has anybody else had issues with paint rubbing or falling off of the inside of the door jambs? The doors do not rattle and they seem tight on their hinges I have never seen this before.
my door jambs are always "gravel brown" so I can't say as I've ever bothered looking.
if it were my truck, I'd probably just spray it with some primer and repaint it.
of course, if it WERE my truck, it would be covered with an inch of gravel dust, so I'd probably never notice it.
oooh for the days 10+ years ago when I didn't live on gravel ...

Hi Buck268,
You might want to have your dealer take a peek to see what could be causing the paint to chip off like that. What's your truck's model year and mileage?

looks like the paint is popping off right where the gasket touches the door when closed. Also looks like you have some rust starting in the bare spots and along the seam at the bottom. My guess is that some grit got in between the gasket and the door and wore through the paint enough for corrosion to set in.
Sure looks like a poor prep situation, paint didn't stick to the primer well enough.
Gonna ask some dumb questions. Has the door had any body/paint repairs done to it? Are you the original owner?
As previously stated, I'd pull the trim panel, scuff it, and prime and paint it. While you have the trim panel off you can inspect for previous repairs and get a look at the condition of the inside of the door, make sure there's no corrosion starting.
Also, your correct, I doubt Ford will do anything for you, but if you bought it new, your dealer may take care of it as a customer service deal.
Thanks for replying, Buck268. If you decide to get your dealership involved, let me know and I'll see what I can do to assist from my neck of the woods.
Did this get resolved? I am having the same issue with my 2016 f250. It's rusting under the paint. The steel is all oxidized and rusting causing the paint to lift. I have 44k miles and of course outside my warranty. Driver door Passenger rear door
