Injector cups..anyting else?

Ok, I'm looking at buying an 02' Excursion with 148k on it. On my overnight test drive I noticed the coolant bottle pushing some coolant out. Took a closer look and found it was over full, and has diesel in it. So I know it needs injector cups. My question is what else to look for before, and when doing the cups? I'm not sure if I'm going to do them myself, or have them done. I'm sure I can, it's more of a time thing. I assume injector O-rings at the same time? The vehicle is in great shape, and runs/drives very good.

Injector O-rings, torque everything, both UVCHs (new OEM), and glow plugs (OEM again). You'll be good to go until injector time.

Cups, Injector O-Rings, toss some Motorcraft Glow Plugs while your in there, do the 50 cent mod, CCV mod, Coolant flush and add an aux coolant filter to catch the sludge that will work its way out.

Riffraff offers everything to do it yourself. I was quoted $3000-4000 to have a shop do it. That was enough of a motivation to dive into it! It wasn't to bad, just take your time and make sure the old locktite is removed and the cup bores are cleaaaan.

I'd lead the guy to beleive you plan to have a shop do it, and get him to drop the price! You should get a pretty nice discount if you end up taking on the task on your own.

I used a metal pick to scrape it off the walls being careful not to scratch the walls. Then some carb cleaner and a fiberless rag to remove any oil and get them nice and clean. You will want them to be nice and clean when you press the new cups in since a successful repair relies on the cups fully seated and sealed well with the loctite. Once the cups are seated, wipe the bores again with a rag to remove any loctite that may have smudged on the bore walls. Number 7 & 8 are the biggest pain in the A, you will need a small mirror to see down in the bore. Patience and some beers are key to the job. I took my time and did it over the weekend.

Dremel and a wire wheel attachment. Injector cup link in my signature will drag you through my ordeal (kicking and screaming). By fast-forwarding to the end, you'll get to the part that works.
