EBPV delete issues

Anyone ever have a 20mm freeze plug TOO BIG?

I did the delete on my 97 2 years ago and I got (5) 20mm plugs. Used one and had 4 left over.

Well tonight I am doing the delete on my new 97 and the free plug is too big. Will NOT go. I destroyed 2 so far.

Anyone else have this issue and what size freeze plug did you go with?

Please help I NEED the truck back together for friday I have to run to South Carolina

Just did this myself 2 weeks ago and used the 20mm freeze plug. It was a little large, but took a dremel to the outside of the plug and in the hole just a bit. After that it was a socket just smaller than the inside of the freeze plug and a hammer for persuasion. Destroyed the first one, but the second one caught and went straight in.

Good luck with this.

try putting the freeze plug in the freezer over night.
heat up the aluminum with MAP gas.
it should slide home fairly easy.

I had this issue when doing my ccv mod. I just got another plug from a different parts store. Tolerances might differ slightly enough to matter
