I have a injector that is in need of replacement soon. I have checked with my Ford dealer and #8 has failed contribution. And after about a half hour in starts to loose its power giving me the death wobble. So with that said I think its barrel and plunger.
I also would like to know who is a very good reputable injector rebuilder IE replaces the B&P on the AB injector. if I am taking the time to replace this I may as well go with a good injector.
The number 8 will almost always fail a CCT. Have you pulled valve cover off and ck the connection? You can also swap the injector with another one say like number 2 and see if it follows the injector. There are a few injector builders that are good. Rosewood, Full force diesel just to name a couple.
Is the updated harness suppose to get rid of a failing CCT? The number 8 cyl is the last in line to get oil so that why it fails. How many miles on the injectors?
Truck has 115K miles(was backed up when the Ford dealer ran the VIN) but I have no idea what the OCI was before I bought the truck last year. I assume it is the plunger barrel(I think it is on it's way out.) cause the way it acts up when warm after a half hour or so. When dead cold in the morning it runs like a Swiss watch. The Powerstoke technician said just run it. But it bugs me when I am running down the interstate, and gives me the wobble.
As mentioned above, #8 is probably the most common to fail the CCT, for several reasons.
#8 also has the smallest window on the camshaft gear so a weak Hall Effect sensor could cause it.
Simply changing your CPS can eliminate it or cause a different injector to "appear to" fail. I have a spare CPS in my glove box as do most of the people on here. When I swap it out #8 is replaced by #3 on the CCT. #3 has the second smallest window. It did this even when my injectors were brand new. It continues to do this when I swap IDM's and PCM's. All of the VC's and UVC wiring is brand new.
Also, have you ohm'ed out your wires all the way back to the IDM and then to the PCM? If you have not, then it could be a wiring issue.
So, as Pikachu and others have asked, could you be very specific about what is going on?
It will develop a miss after a 1/2 hour of driving. When you stop and pull open the hood the engine can be seen shaking at idle.
New rotors out back and new caliper LF and RR. No its not the brakes/tires shaking.
What is your definition of "death wobble"? Because on here it is referred to as something is wrong with the suspension and not eng related. We might be thinking differentially then you for troubleshooting.
Ok replaced the sensor with PN:1876735C91 Navistar/International part. It is the same and only thing I could tell was it sounds like it took a degree or two of timing out of the engine. As it is quieter and does not cackle as loudly. But the slight misfire in one cylinder is still there. But now even when cold.
I disconnected the main/square harness and could not get a reading on the injector wires/pins as per OHMS. I think I read 3 on the link I found in searching for the correct pins. I may have to go deeper and read at VC.

OK. Is your truck chipped or tuned?
The reason I asked is because I went out a bit ago and ran CCT in three different tunes on two tuners. DP Daily=#8 fail, DP 60=#3 fail, DP Stock=3&8 fail. Greahead Daily= all pass, GH 60=#3 fail and GH Stock=#3 fail.
SO, I did not have time to see what happened if I substituted my spare CPS into the mix, but I think that we can say that the tune can have some influence.
