Hey I'm currently building up my cc lb dually to have some fun with and take out to the salt flats someday and I was curious what people have gotten these trucks up to before and I am in no way tell people to go race there trucks on the streets so I don't Wana hear anything saying I'm telling people to be dangerous on public roads
my max is 65, period, these trucks are not meant to be going fast anyways, just be careful when your out having fun with your truck and remember these trucks generally sit higher so the CG is different then a car and could cause these trucks (or any vehicle like them) to roll over quicker then say a car like a Mustang
95 MPH before computer starts taking your fuel-injected fun away by removing fuel from the equation. Probably not what you wanted to hear but that's what it is, no triple digits for you... unless you get a chip!
... which means your truck just stays at 95 (or 85) and won't go any faster. The engine might sound like it's not running well, but it won't die and cause the truck to slow down. It'll just stop accelerating.
Yeah already found out about the speed governor and that will be taken care off when I switch to MAF. I think the hardest thing will be to find tires that can go that fast been looking high I can find a R so 106 mph
I have gone 110 MPH in my bronco, and my friend did 126 MPH in his 1995 powerstroke yesterday. I'd like to do a ZF-5 swap, and see if I can go faster.
How fast are you anticipating on going. For reference my buddy has a tuned duramax a 12 that when you hit a bump at 140 the front wheels literally unload so much the wheel turns and you don't. And that has a much more stable suspension platform as it was lowered too help with stability at speed. I would build a better suited platform such as a car or sportbike, in college I had a yamaha r6 for example that ran 186 off the showroom floor.but if you only wanted to run a buck twenty or so I would find a single cab shortbed f150 and do a 408 stroker or A 460 swap.
The idea is not to beat land speed records or anything but to have fun if I could hit 140 on the salt flats I would be more then thrilled. Also on the bumps I believe the salt flats are smooth and softer then concrete so that should help and I would imagine the truck your talking about might be a good bit more front heavy then mine so that might effect it as well

I have never been to the salt flats, but what I have read in mags it's worse than pavement especially after rain and takes a ton of prep work
To push a dually you are going to need shorter gears or big tires as bear said which means you need a lot more power. You never said but what motor does your dually have? Each motor available had different power bands and power ceilings
It's the 460 planning on building it up to 400-500 hp and as far as the gears I'm fairly sure I'm going to be going with a gear vendor overdrive so I can keep my 4.10 worst case I may have to put in 3.73 as well haven't done the math yet to see
