Micah's 08 f250 build thread

Hey everyone I just picked up my first super duty on Thursday. It is a 2008 f250 xl 4x4 with a 5.4 in it. I already am in love with this truck. It has 62k miles and is really clean.

I bought it knowing it has the cam phasers problem, and I purchased it for such a good deal I decided to buy a new engine with a 100k mile warranty rather than fix the old engine. I decided to keep the 5.4 because I don't do a lot of heavy hauling and I just could not justify buying a diesel since I won't use it as a diesel should be used.

This is how it sits today, it came with 35/12.50s and a leveling kit. This truck is tall! I'm 6'7" and have to hop to get in!

Ok so other than the new engine going in this week I have ordered a roll up truxedo tonnue cover, running boards, bushwhacker fender flares, linex rocker panels, a livewire 5star tuner, flowmaster exhaust, and a couple others I am forgetting right now.

I have always loved the xl trucks as you can see with my 94 f150 in a couple of these pics. Anyways I can't wait to drop the f250 off tomorrow at the shop! Although I can't wait to get it back either. I just wish I could be the one putting on the new parts! My body is not what it once was after my motorcycle accident.

Without further ado I introduce Goliath!

Yeah she will! I'm excited lol.

After I get it back and I have some down time I will do Tue rocker panels on the f150 as well.

Now one question as I am new to the super duty world. My hubs have an auto setting and a locked setting. My question is this, can I use 4x4 in the auto setting on the hubs? Or do they need to be locked? I havent seen these before. Course my newest truck I've ever owned is my 94 lol

Yes as long as you have the ESOF system the hubs will automatically lock provided there are no vacuum leaks. I'm not sure how it works if you have the shifter on the floor. May be a good idea to work the hub selector back and forth a little from manual to auto a couple times.

The hubs were locked in when I bought it and I unlocked them. They moved nicely, not catchy or anything. And I don't have the shifter on the floor. I've got a little dial to flip for 4x4, I wish ford would have kept the floor selector it just feels better pulling a lever than flipping a switch lol

Well I got the truck back last Friday and I am very happy. Today it goes in for the first oil change and the magna flow muffler. My air raid intake will arrive on Friday so I can't wait to install that as well.

But here is goliath.

Very nice. I'll watch! I've always want to Linex the rockers on mine. I love the look.

If I can give my 2 cents, I vote for a mirror upgrade and clearance lights

Once you try the bigger mirrors, you won't ever want to look through the paddles again. I have the paddle mirrors on both my SD and my Excursion. My dad's truck has the big mirrors. I still complain about my mirrors constantly...

My only complaints about the mirrors so far is that they aren't power mirrors lol.

From what I've read from 5.4L owners, I recommend you change your spark plugs, too, before it's too late and they don't want to come out without a fight.

The truck has a brand new Jasper engine in it (see text in first post). I think the plugs in that would be ok.

Oh yeah, sorry, by the time I reached the end of the thread I had forgotten he'd decided to order a whole new 5.4L for it.

I wonder how much more it would've taken to drop in a V10 instead...

V10 would not have costed all that much more but I don't need a v10 or a diesel lol.

And yeah it's a new engine and new plugs and lots of other new parts now
