I picked up a 79 bronco at my local city impound auction yesterday. Its loaded. XLT, tilt, cruise, optional "slot" wheels, intermittent wipers, sway bars, skid plates, swing away tire carrier, 351/c6/205. So far I've got it running, and it really runs good. But the tilt won't lock into place in the upper 2-3 settings. It'll stay in place if you put it into one of those spots, but if u push down on steering wheel, it'll pop out of place until about half way down then it locks. I've never dealt with a ford tilt, just wondering if its something easy to fix? The cruise isn't working either, so hoping its simple. The bronco is in really original condition and other than rear wheel wells its nice, nice. Thanks for any help with tilt
Wow a bump after only 19.5 hrs of waiting....70 views and not even a guess of how to help, that is what is a shame. While I was writing this ND came in and saved the day.
Sounds like a good deal on the Bronco, as far as a problem with tilt steering it sounds like you have a lock part that is worn out.
Tilt steering wheel parts are/should be available from most well known vendors like JBG, Dennis Carpenter, NPD....Time to take is part and see what is worn out.
NO one has the E2TZ-3B661-A (or the original D0AZ-3B661-A) locking lever NOS and AFAIK, it's not reproduced.
The lack of this part will...sooner or later...affect all 1970/91 vehicles that have the tilt wheel operated by the T/S lever...cuz when the serrations wear down, peeps will be SOL
