I'm getting close to getting my Ex bullet proofed. My go to mechanic is a Ford diesel tech that seems to know his stuff. I'm a little concerned though. He told me he can change the studs/ head gaskets with the engine in the vehicle. Is this possible? He assured me that it was possible and that all of the studs would be replaced. He said it's a pain but that it's doable and that he prefers to do it this way. He says that on pick-ups he'll remove the cabs but on Exs and conversion trucks it's takes more time than it's worth. I guess I'm just looking for advice on whether this guy is jerkin my chain or not.

He is correct, I had my studs and heads done at Ford dealer... Really not that difficult at all, there is plenty of room unless he's a 400 pounder
Yes it can be done. The guy I took it to was more upset that truck had dual A/C. Apparently it's more time consuming. They did gaskets, studs, dummy plugs, up pipes, and oil cooler. The only mistake I made was not putting a coolant filter on it and after two years I had to put new oil cooler in it.
