Should I change the oil cooler?

I ordered new heads today due to diesel in the coolant. the engine was bulletproofed along with new oil cooler about 45,000 miles ago. I am not sure just what type/model oil cooler was installed then.

Should I have it changed while they are in there? I know that the 350 bucks for the oil cooler is chump change compared to the 5300 for all parts and labor on the head swap, but the money it is taking to get the current work done hit hard and I'm already having to tighten up the belt so-to-speak for a while to pay for it.

If it were me and I was already dumping that much $$ into it I would just to have the peace of mind knowing that it was taken care of and all was new & warrantied (if the shop offers warranty)

discussion on this board, that the only real possibility was a cracked head. After running the numbers, it was not worth pulling and testing the heads and replacing the culprit, would only cost a couple hundred more to replace both, no increase in labor, and would have both heads warrantied from Ford for 12k miles.

If your temp spread is within spec, don't replace it. Otherwise get an OEM OC kit.
