New user here, so I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this post. I have a 2006 F-250 Diesel that needed to have the truck bed replaced due to rust issues. I replaced it with a 2013 version and now the filler tube is roughly 3-4" too short.
Anyone have a suggestion as to how I can bridge the gap to the new body? Is there an extension piece I can purchase or do I just have to cut and extent the pipe via an insert and hose clamps? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I had a bed put on a cab chassis. It has the rear aft axle tank and I wanted to use the original filler door on the bed so my guy used a couple of steel pipes (one for the filler and one for the air purge) and the original connections at the filler door and at the tank. You obviously don't need 9 feet of it but you get the idea. Should be pretty easy.
Thanks for the suggestions, it looks like it should be easier than I had originally thought. One more question, I understand there are two hoses, one filler hose (the larger one) and the air purge (smaller one) but is there an inner hose in the filler hose? I have read someplace that the larger metal housing has a smaller rubber hose inside of it. If that is the case, anyone know the diameters of the hoses that I will need?
Sorry for all the very basic questions, but I do appreciate all of the responses, I am sure they are going to get me where I need to go with this project.
I just bolted a 2015 bed on our loaner today. I would guess you are using the 13 steel tube,, and trying to use the rubber off your existing tank?? It will work if you use the entire assembly off your truck,, and discard the 13 filler. At least that's what I've done on all the ones we have done.
Super Duty Service ... at this time the bed is 13 and my truck is an 06. The complete 06 assembly is still in place and is short. Are you saying to get a new steel tube for the 13 bed and then bridge the difference with stock tubing?
I will shoot a video in a bit. I have our truck here and I will show how every one I've done has came out. Gimme a sec. I've yet to have an issue,,, Yet. Lol. The filler door should be in the same spot as the 06 bed. Did you put the bed on??? Wonder if the bed end of the neck is pushed in that much. The holes that mount the neck to the bed will have to be self tapped. They aren't the same.
