Problem with flatbed...

So my problem is rather easy and i thought it would have an easy solution but i guess not. My bed was completely shot when i got my 1979 Ford F150 and for the mean time while i search i have put a flat bed on. Now the problem im having is find long enough fuel filler hose for both the hoses connecting the neck to the gas tank.. Does anyone have any suggestion or throw out ideas of where they bought theirs. I know JBG sells it but it looks like they only sell the correct size if you have the standard bed...

Thanks,
Dave

Probably not the best solution, but what I did is this. I got an extra set of stock hoses. I cut the hose end off my filler. I shoved the cut off ends into the hoses on the tank, and cut off enough of the new rubber hoses to put those on the ends of the metal sleeves. Basically using the cut off metal ends as couplers to hook the rubber hoses together to make them longer. Does this make any sense?

I'm in the process of build a deck for my '77 and I plan on just fabricating a recessed pocket door on the bed that will house my filler cap. Mine will be a light-duty deck that will never hold any more than a dirtbike or two.

I'm not sure if I can explain this without taking a picture of what I did, but that'll have to wait till tomorrow. Get an extra set of the rubber hoses that connect the filler neck to the tank. Take your metal filler neck, and cut off about 4 inches where the rubber hose from the tank clamps onto it. Put it back into the hose where it was originally with about half of the metal still exposed. Clamp your extra rubber hose onto the cutoff stub. Then put your shortened filler neck onto that hose. Repeat for the vent hose. You've basically just put an extra length of hose between the 2 metal tubes, making the whole thing longer. I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow in the day light and post a picture.

Why not find some exhaust tubing that will fit inside your existing hoses and use it to lengthen them? Cut off enough hose to put on each end of the tube and use the tubing to gain the length you need. Tubing and a couple of extra hose clamps would be all that it would require. Just a thought..............................

NAPA auto sells fuel hose , its stiff and pricey . also check with any one that sells truck bodies , flat beds .

what the others are saying is to use 2 filler hoses and spice them together with a piece of tubing or cut up the existing filler neck and use it to splice the 2 hoses together .
its a lot cheaper that way and has been done hundreds of times !
