Charging Problem

I have a 89 F350 7.3 IDI and I recently did the headlight MOD to it to keep from having to replace the switch so much. After doing the headlight MOD my Altenator went out and while I was at it I decided I may as well go ahead and change out the voltage regulator also. Now this is whats happening. I am not getting any voltage out of my altenator except on the battery terminal. My voltage gauge will not work unless the headlights are on and my batteries are constantly being drained. Any Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment. Seems like every time I fix a problem I creat a problem on this truck.

Thanks

Where did you tap in for hot power to the relay for the headlight mod?
