Doesn't the rear most light at the tail gate have a slide switch on it to disable it? My wife is out in the big Ex (Excursion), I am stuck with the little Ex (Expedition) but I really thought it had one.

So at least there is a switch on mine. Disable the 3rd row light and turn off the hatch one.

I wonder if there is some kinda timer? Later this morning I will go out and hit the keypad first and post results.

Maybe on the owners manual there is a function setting to able / disable it.
I think it's just a functional difference in model years, likely because buyers of early models told them they didn't like the feature.

I'm in Ogden, UT right now and it's pouring rain. And I'm a little buzzed from drinking their 3.2% beers. Otherwise I'd be all over that. Where is this switch exactly?

On my 05, that switch didn't do anything other than control that light

Off/on/on when doors opened

Not necessarily in that order.

I would have to agree. May be model year specific on how all this works.
