I hope you had a better choice of alternators than I did. I put 3 of the el-cheapo's from autozone before I wised up and ponied up for a good one from O'Reillys.
All the el-cheapo's showed them charging in the store(cold). Like the guy said, as soon as it got hot I guess, it wouldn't do didly. 2 out of 3 didn't show any batt light. Bought a new one and it's been perfect ever since.
If there is no voltage available on the alt lamp circuit the regulator won't wake up and energize the field coils.
Check that fuse #19 is good and making good contact in its socket, that the socket is hot with KOEO, that the alt lamp is not burned out, that the light green wire on the back of the alt has voltage available with the KOEO and has good contact within the connector.
KOEO I'm not showing anything at the green wire. I checked with it unplugged from the alternator, at the splice where I put a new plug on with it plugged into the alternator, and at the plug where it plugs in behind the mega fuse and got nothing. Fuse 19 inside is hot with KOEO.
I ended up taking certain individual wires out of the two main block plugs that go into the inside fuse block and cleaned and recrimped to make sure they were making good contact. It done the trick
