Truck has a rough idle and finally just stalls out. I replace the under valve cover wiring harness and put in new glow plugs. With valve covers still off I started the truck in the issue still persist. I went ahead and unplugged each injector and each time the motor had a hick up .
Simplest thing to do next is check the HPOP oil level. Need to be within 3/4 inch from the top.
Your issue sounds like fuel starvation. So a low oil level means injectors not getting fuel through.
After that I would check the Tin Nut on the back of the IPR, then the ICP for oil in the connector.
I don't think there's a torque spec for it, but it does need to be tight enough to not leak or wobble around. Also, subscribed for the same issues.
Try unplugging the ICP and see if it still stumbles. That fixes my stumbling but my ICP is new so something else is wrong with me. I mean my truck. Lots of stuff is wrong with me
For SHAME!!! There is a torque spec for EVERYTHING, even if it is irrelevant like Power Steering Pump mounting bolts...just get them snug. The torque spec for the Tinnerman nut is 53 inch pounds (INCH pounds, not foot pounds). Best bet is to put some BLUE Loc-Tite on it and get it snug (never use red Loc-Tite).
You need to make sure you don't have low fuel pressure. Could be pre- or post fuel filter. Make sure theres not a ton of junk on the bottom of your fuel bowl below the heater element. Also, may need to blow out your fuel line from the pump back to the tank. What's your fuel level at? If at or below 1/8 of a tank, you may have a broken pickup foot in the tank.
Oil level was good. I pulled the harnest and made sure no wires were messed up and ended up replacing the clips that go to the uvch. The passanger side injectors all buzz test weak. Driver side is fine. I ohmed every thing with no issues. Thinking the idm may have crapped out
If ALL the passenger side is not working up to snuff, you may have a loose "under valve cover harness" (UVCH) that needs the "50 Cent Mod." Or in this case, the .25 cent mod. Pull that valve cover, make sure it's plugged in snugly, ohm all your glow plugs while in there...and torque your injectors and rocker arms back to spec.
This costs nothing but time, and is always good to do every so often anyway. And if your glow plugs are weak, they are only about 12 apiece at O'Reilly (ALWAYS GET MOTORCRAFT GLOWPLUGS).
I replaced everything and ohmed every thing for injectors and glow plugs. All the way to the wiring harness at the idm. With no issues. I'm ordering a new one today. Hopefully that fixes it
