I have a 54 ford but it had a 56 grille. Here where it got difficult, the mounting holes for the grille are very close on the passangers side but the drivers side will need new holes drilled. Anyone else ever discover this. The gravel guard is stamped brazil. First time I've been able to work on ol' paint (my truck) in a long time , Kurt y-blocks rule!
I got the grille set into place today and discovered that the guy I found online with the grille and charged me $150. for a 54 vallance panel actually sent me some other year panel that had holes cut into it for the grille to slide into. No bolt brackets to bolt grille in with and the holes that are cut don't seem to let the grille line up correctly I paid $650 for everything including shipping but I'm still disappointed!!! I don't know if the rules allow me to give the name of the guy who decieved on this forum but he does sell parts to unsuspecting enthusiast. Just venting but wanted to tell someone who might be simpathetic to my plight. Thanks Kurt y-blocks rule
Sorry to hear about your problems with that seller. Everyone I have dealt with here are very fair. Have you tried to ask for a refund/refurn? You WILL need a 54 gravel guard for your restoring the 54 grill. The Brazil stamp is normal. Mine is like that and it turns out from reading other post here that Brazil was/is big in Ford parts. Good lucl, John
John. the seller was not from this web site I found it somewhere else. I do have a gravel guard but it will need repairing. Thanks though, Kurt y-blocks rule!
I actually would be interested in who sold you the vallance as I have a '53 that I bought from a kid that had basically the same luck. The '53 had a '54 grill/vallance (the vallance on the truck was trash) and he paid 300$ for a vallance from a company and it was in worse shape than the one he had. I have since found a '53 grill and I'm going to repair one of the '54 vallances and smooth it to work with the '53 grill. (unless someone is interested in a trade...)
Tyson, The guy was Al Vital but the valance I bought was suppose to be a 54 with the holes cut in it. I let me look to see if the turn signals mount the same was on my 56 valance. But that might be an alterative for you. I'll check then post on here later. Maybe the other guys can tell you if 56 and 53 are the same. Did you say you had a 54 grille???Kurt y-blocks rule.
John, your right. That seems to be my problem. It looks like my valance pan may be 56 or 53 or 55. The one thing its not is a 54. The valance panel for my 56 grille has the same notches for the turn signals as the bent up 54 valance I have. But a note for Tyson, check out a 56 valance, maybe it'll work for your 53. Kurt y-blocks rule!
The turn signals are the same 53-54 but the 54 pan has the holes for the fangs on the grille. 55 and 56 have the same turn signals but the air deflectors have recesses in them on the 56 to make room for the recessed headlight buckets. Thus, all of the parts are interchangeable as long as you get all the peices.
Tyson, there you have it if you have all the right peices. The valance pan for the 55or 56 should work for you but I still have a valanc pan for 54 that needs body work. Do you still have the 54 grille you mentioned earlier also the email for that guy is vital56(No Email Addresses In Posts!) maybe he can find the part you need. Kurt y-blocks rule!
