Tire & wheel size question
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a new set of summer tires for my truck. The stock size is 235/85 R16. I picked up a nice set of aluminum wheels that came off a Dodge. They are slightly wider than my stock Ford steel wheels. When I mounted my stock tires, they fit fine, but bulged out a little on the sidewall. I need new tires now and I would like to get some slightly wider tires that will not bulge out, but still have the same circumference as my stock tires.
In the winter I use studded tires of stock size on stock rims. I like to have 2 sets on wheels so I don't have to pay the shop to swap my tires twice a year.
My neighbor has a dodge with those wider rims and he has 235/75s that fit his rims properly, but have a smaller circumference than my tires.
Can anyone suggest an appropriate size tire with the information I've given? I have to make a 200 mile trip to buy the new tires, so I need to be sure of what I'm asking for when I go to the shop.
