I have a question and I hope it does not sound to stupid! I have not seen that I recall information about cams! I know with gassers there is a lot of things going on with cams ! What I was wanting to know is there a "Hot" cam for a 7.3? or are there special profiles that dezeels must conform to ? Can a 7.3 benefit from such a "Hot" cam?
Is it fuel injection that takes lift and duration out of the picture? I guess what I mean about "Hot" cam is a better profile than stock!

Coming from a gasser world that had me confused too. On naturally aspirated and carbed engines only the cam controls timing and amount of air/fuel, but the PCM and injectors control all that in our nifty 7.3. Whatever the lift and duration is on the OEM cam in there, it's overcome by boosted air and squirted fuel.
Read a little of that link from Fordpride ! Looks like kind of a clearance limit on the the lift without doing some work on the pistons!Kind of answers why ya just can't drop in the cam without having to do more work on the engine!
