I have a 1996 7.3l f250 long bed. It is a 2wd and has some 4.10 gears in the rear and a 5spd manual or 4spd w/ "overdrive". Anyways, it had a towing flywheel with the springs in it to take up some of the load, but I don't do anymore towing so I am going to replace the transmission clutch and pressure plate along with a solid one piece flywheel. Curious about how the clutch will react. Other than that it is getting repainted and I was wondering about the exhaust. I want a turbo back of some sort and am wondering on the size of the pipe. 4" or 5"? and if so will I have to go with a tuner?? and possible an intake. Other than that, what epa bs does this truck have?? Does it have an egr and dpf?? let me know!!! I'm new to the whole thread scene as well.
99.9% of all street driven vehicles use a sprung hub on the clutch disc to make clutch engagement smoother. Race cars usually use a solid clutch plate… you don't want that. Stick with the sprung hub.
A 96 7.3 will have an EGR valve IIRC but it will not have a DPF.
Looks like you are asking about swapping a dual mass flywheel for a single mass flywheel. You might want to visit the diesel section as they may be able to give you some more information, pros/cons, etc.
