2 Speed- 12 volt Blower motor

I've actually had good luck with small pancake cooling fans off of ATV or something - SPAL makes a 4" and a 5" that move a fair bit of air. They're also thinner, so you can often move the heater box closer to the firewall (depending on your model of heater) and while I never needed a two-speed, I'm sure you could run a 2-speed switch (the kind that has a resistor)...

I use 6v heater fans all the time with a resistor network to lower the current. So far no failures. This is a basic schematic for a GM resistor pack, I just eliminate the direct high speed line by cutting the connection that does not go through the resistors. so with this setup I would end up using the middle two positions and either end would be OFF. I have a whole write up with diagrams and pictures in the truck #2 build thread, check out post #255, link is in my signature.

'56 F100 12 volt heater motor-3 wire
Sorry to rehash this but has anyone figured out a parts store replacement heater motor replacement for these trucks. Again, the VDO PM351 fits but it's a 2 wire- one speed and stop -motor. It needs to be a 3 wire- hi speed-low speed- off. I hear some mention of Ford Falcon fitting but maybe we can get some feedback on this?

Did you try a 2 speed switch?
I have this one on order from an ebay vendor because I am replacing the 6v with the recommended VDO motor. My '53 came with the fresh air heater with a 2 speed switch. My switch is bad.

This application does work. I have one that was sourced from O'Reillys Auto parts in 09' in my 55. No issues. At the time it was less than $30. I hope this helps

Was yours a two wire motor or 3 wire. Rock Auto shows a vdo pm351- which is a two wire (single speed) motor.
