Okay guys I really need some help and I'm starting to get really frustrated.. 07 f250 I just replaced the power steering pump. I put the serpiten belt back on and when I started my truck I now have a squeaking noise. It's driving me nuts and the more I push the pedal it gets alil louder. Now before I did the ps pump I did hear a little noise like of bearings squeaking when I put my ear to grill.... I put the old ps pump pully on the new pump but I don't think that is it because it is pressed on. Do you guys think it would be a bad idler/tension pully? Is it just a coincidence after I do ps pump that it now decides to squeak????? Please any help/experience would help... I just want to drive my truck and not have problems.
okay so I've replaced bearings in one of the idler pulleys and just replace another one and still have the squeaking... Does anyone know a good way i can check to the power steering pump pulley to make sure it is squared up??.
You need a new belt. The old one is getting worn. It's probably stretched a bit, and that's what's causing your problem. I put a new tensioner on mine, still had the squeak, put a new belt on it, and squeak was fixed.
The belt is fairly new. It still has the writing on it nice and clear. for some reason I think it's the pully for ps pump because it did not start until I replaced ps pump. Could someone please look at there ps pump pulley for me and tell me how far it is seated on the ps pump shaft.
It is supposed to be flush. The older remover/installer tool bottoms out before it is flush with the pully. You need to install a washer that fits and finish drawing it on. You will get anything from a squeal to it cutting the last rib off the belt.
