hello, im looking into going with a wider rim, but want the proper rim to match. right now I have 35/12.50/16.5 tires. the truck is lifted 6" with suspension, and 3" with body lift, so rubbing wont be an issue. I want atleast a 10 wide but what backspacing should I look into?
All the extra width is put to the outside. I run the same size tires with a 4 inch lift, and I think my rims are 10 inches wide. I say most of the extra width is to the outside because there is not much room on the inside. If you put it too far to the inside, they will rub on the leaf springs in a parking lot. And you also need to clear the suspension pieces.
The extra width to the outside also helps stability on a lifted truck. What you won't like is how it chips the paint and throws mud all down the side of the truck. That little body profile at the bottom of the door right above the rocker area gets tore all to pieces on my truck from the tires throwing gravels against it. I did round up some guards that I am going to install in the front wheel wells.
