My older brother is picking up an 89 BII saturday. I'm not sure if its any special editon Eddie Baurer one or not XLT or not i have no idea. Anyhow what size tires will fit on it without rubbing? If it needs a lift how big will it need to be for lets say 31s or 33s? What size tires can be fitted on the 5 spoke aluminum rims on rangers(like the ones that are 5 spokes of aluminum with black paint on them) and will those rims from the ranger(2wd) fit on a BII thats a 4x4? or should he upgrade the rims to fit wider tires on them?
I have seen up to 30x9.50s mounted on these wheels. The tires on them when this picture was taken were P235/75R-15s, which will fit without any rubbing issues at all, and generally speaking, 30s won't rub either, unless you put wheels with a more shallow backspacing on the truck. For 31s, it is recommended to have 3-4 1/2" of lift, depending on where you check. For 33s, you'll want 4 1/2-5 1/2" or more. This is whether or not it's suspension only or a combination of suspension/body lift. You can also get the Bushwacker cut-out flares, if you want to cut the wheel well sheetmetal. Hope this helps
On my 86 (same body I think), I had 3 in susp + 2in BL w/ 31s and no rubbing but very close in front. I went to 5 + 2 with trimming to clear 33s. I can still rub in front fully stuffed and turned, but only slightly. Stay away from the Bushwackers for a B2. You'll cut out way too much and even with 37s they look ridiculous. Trust me, I've seen it. Don't just hack away on your fenders. When you trim them fold an edge over so if you do hit the tire it will be rubbing on flat metal, not a sharp edge.
BroncoII.org is a great site for questions like this or B2 stuff in general.
Oh yeah, he just picked it up today (Friday) its an 87 not an 89 and it is the Eddie Bauer Edition. 2.9l v6 4x4. It has the rims that u have in the picture. tires are very small P205/75/R15s and are rather bald. i will be selling him my P235/75/R15s for $40 cuz im not using them for anything and they are just on my truck(77 F-100) for no reason and are brand new. the BII is in really good shape other than a minor dent in the driverside fender, it has a brushguard on it(looks like a james duff pre-runner one) its like blue with a tan velour interior, adjustable lumbar supports, power windows/locks/mirrors, 158000 miles, runs drives and is inspected til next month.. HE ONLY PAID $150 FOR IT!!!!
i cant get some pics till tomorrow cuz he already left for his girlfriends house and wont be back until around midnight then he'll be leaving again later tomorrow to go see a penguins game
eddie bauer seats with the lumbar supports?...anyhow how about if he were to put almost new 205/70/R15s up front and some almost new 225/75/R15s in the back until he gets a matching set of 235/75/R15s, or will it ride weird with different sizes?
