I just installed the 1 piece STC fitting using the plastic alignment fixture supplied. I checked it with a straight edge and calipers in relation to the pump base mounting suface. Found it to have moved when I tightened the jam nut.
Reinstalled the fixture and held the fitting with a wrench while tightening the jam nut. I forgot to recheck with the straight edge/calipers. It installed back into the engine fine.
Just thinking if the fitting/branch tube mating surfaces are not parallel, the 2 small attaching bolts may not rotate them parallel causing the oring to fail.Looked good but has me thinking as I continue assembly.
Surprised that I got no reply. Anyway all is good. After installing a BulletProof
EGR Cooler , Ford engine oil cooler. STC updated fitting on the HPOP and cleaning the Turbo vanes and unison ring, I got a better running truck. I can hear the turbo spool up now, something I have not heard in a while.
Glad it worked out for you. I am going the same route this summer with my truck. Purely preventative, as I don't have any issues right now. How long did the tear down and reassembly take you?
I took my time [retired heavy equip mech,]. About 18 hrs. to replace EGR and oil coolers , check and replace STC fitting and clean every thing up. Including oil cooler compartment in block. Add another 7 hrs. to unstick my turbo unison ring. First time inside a 6.0. No issues on start up.
I just wished I had rechecked that STC fitting to pump housing mounting surface a second time for parallelism. It wasn't the first time. Was haunting
me all the way till start up. I also removed my grille so it wouldn't get scratched up.
