Mercon help
To start I've been searching for the last hour and I am just chasing my tail now
So Mercon was discontinued in 06, Mercon v was the suitable replacement for Mercon
I need to reseal my transmission pan gasket and was in Wally world today looking at fluids, I used valvoline maxlife before but that was 5 years ago and had a different rating on the bottle back then. The rating now is Mercon LV.. My question Is Mercon LV suitable in a e4od or do I need to find a fluid that is Mercon V?

Recommended for use where DEXRON, DEXRON II, III and VI, Toyota T-IV and WS, MERCON®, MERCON® SP and LV, Allison TES 389, Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J and Matic-K, Honda Z-1 (except CVT), Mercedes NAG-1, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III and many others are required.
it meets mercon spec see ^
Valvoline.com > Products > MaxLife > Automatic Transmission Fluid MaxLife > MaxLife® DEX/MERC ATF
you can use mercon spec ATF in the E4OD but mercon v is a much improved ATF.
i use mercon V.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, so just out of curiosity what brand of fluid do you use in your duallys?

Thanks again, I think I'll try the napa Mercon. I'll check it out on their website.
