Mercon v

Ok guys I've read a lot about the mercon v in the E40D transmission (not good). I want to service my tranny and have not been able to locate the dexIII/mercon in my area. What are my options for tanny fluid? Is synthetic the only thing I can do? I'm afraid of the mercon v now.

in cleveland two different auto parts stores had 10 cases each of dexIII/mercon.

but subford is right, the new stuff is superior to the old mercon v

Just make sure the new mercon v says covers mercon/dexronIII applications. Walmart still has tons of mercon/dexronIII in stock for 6.98 a gallon.
