Recently my ol 68 truck with a 360 gave up the ghost (and most of its oil out the dipstick tube) so I started looking for a replacement motor rather than rebuilding the old one. I found a guy who has a 429 coupled with a C6 for a song. So My question is this... will that 429 fit in between that frame rails or will it take some doing to make it fit? I'm thinking its a simple mount change and it should be good to go but its always good to converse with others beforehand.
And as always thanks for all the input!
The 429 has the same physical external dimensions as a 460. Lots of people have installed 460s in these trucks. The 429 should fit as well.
Exhaust manifolds would likely fit with no trouble. Headers designed for a 460 in a Dentside should fit without clearance issues in a Bumpside as well.
oh yeah thats what it was the headers we got for it were long tube car headers and they didnt fit in frame i think we got some for a 78 and it was almost to easy to swap

Headers are designed more for the chassis they will be going in rather than the engine they will be going on.
A few years back the Northern Ca. Chapter was building a mud truck. We started with a '72 F250 and swapped in a 460. I found a Dentside in my local wrecking yard with a 460 in it, bought the frame perches and motor mounts from it and the 460 was a bolt-in on the '72. Just to show you that there are factory parts available for the swap and you don't need any aftermarket swap kits or anything.
