Hi guys Im going to start on my new floor pans and cab mounts on my 79 f150, already got the floor cut out and new panels fitted, now for the cab mounts. The old ones are still in place, going to be replacing them but was wondering on the best way anyones had with making sure the news ones go right back to the same location. Any tips you guys can give me would be appreciated. Thanks
also any ideas on propping up the cab in order to replace the floors and mounts, since my cab is already off. Im going to be figuring it out shortly just any tips would be helpful thanks
My advice would be to measure the flange around the new cab mounts and make sure they are exactly the same size as the ones you are cutting off. If they are then...
Drill 4 holes, one on each side of the mount (through the mount and into the cab floor. Measure these center points and transfer them to the new mounts. Cut the old ones off. Attach the new ones on using sheet metal screws through each hole and start welding.
It not only puts them in the exact same spot but it holds them tight so can tack weld them in without clamping.
